HE IS NOT ABOUT TO SHOOT HER

So this was going to be uploaded yesterday but I was trapsing through a heavily densed lot near our house after some cats, so yeah, i wasn't in the mood...This is my character Essie before she met my sister's character Adliena, you've seen her before here: [link]

So I'm sure this is a complete disgrace to the sci/fi world but you all are lucky your even seeing it because i just barely managed to force myself to finish it, it was going to be left as a bad sketch for the longest time but then I figured...what the hey, finish it, so the shading, proportions, mist, and just about everything else is horrible.

Here's a bit of story that goes with it, if anyone is interested. but its long and i'm a horrible writer so you can skip through if you like.

Essie walked carefully through the mist, the sounds of blasts filled the air as her team continued to shoot the pods containing the small alien life. She held her gun up to a pod but just as she was about to pull the trigger the tiny being opened one eye...and looked at her. She stuck her weapon back in its holister and laid a hand on the glass cover of the pod. The small being stretched out its hand to her and then quickly pulled it back and began to promptly suck its finger.
Essie frowned, "Uthair, wait..." she said.
A man standing nearby stopped firing and turned to look at her. "What?"
"this isn't right," she said.
"Listen, we were told to do a job, and we're doing it, the government told us it didn't really matter, they can't feel-" he began to say.
"Just because the government says its right, doesn't mean it is," she said, glancing back at him. "These beings are alive, they may be just about nothing right now, but they already have a face..they could grow up to be someone."
"Hey, its their parents and their own race's fault anyway, they decided to have the government control and make their biggest incubation facility, half of these 'kids' grow up on this planet anyway, never to meet their parents or own race. They don't want them and the government no longer wants to support them." he said.
"It shouldn't be their choice, these babies should have a chance to live, we shouldn't do this." she turned to look back at the tiny form, she laid her hand back on it, she could almost swear it smiled at her, a small smile tugged at her own lips. There was suddenly a loud bang and a flash, the pod burst open, glass shattered everywhere, the tiny form and the incubation liquids all poured out in one, dissapearing beneath the mist. Essie instantly backed up and but a hand to her cheak, which had been cute by glass. She turned quickly to see Uthair still holding his gun up.
"We have a job to do, I suggest we do it."
